N-terminal pro B-type natriuretic peptide (NT-proBNP)
(NT-proBNP)

Clinical Decription:
NT-proBNP is to be used as an aid in the diagnosis and staging of congestive heart failure (CHF) and can also be used for monitoring the treatment in patients with left ventricular dysfunction. NT-proBNP has been shown to be elevated in heart failure, and the extent of that elevation is directly related to the severity of the disease. NT-proBNP levels are associated with poorer cardiac outcomes in several different clinical settings, including ACS, decompensated heart failure, and stable chronic heart failure.
