Laboratory Medicine Program
Paraneoplastic Disease Profile
(PNS)
Clinical Decription:
Qualitative detection of IgG autoantibodies to 12 antigens associated with paraneoplastic neurologic syndromes: amphiphysin, CV2, PNMA2 (Ma2/Ta), Ri, Yo, Hu, recoverin, SOX1, titin, zic4, GAD65, and Tr (DNER). The identification of these autoantibodies can support the diagnosis of paraneoplastic neurological syndromes. This assessment can also be used to investigate neurological symptoms that appear during or after cancer therapy (not explained by metastasis), to differentiate autoimmune neuropathies from neurotoxic effects of chemotherapy, to monitor the immune response of seropositive patients in the course of cancer therapy, and to detect early evidence of cancer recurrence in previously seropositive patients.
