BAP1 Tumour Predisposition/Mesothelioma (BAP1) - Hereditary

Clinical Decription:
The BAP1 gene is association with a hereditary cancer predisposition syndrome that increases the risk for various cancer types including, but not limited to, uveal and cutaneous melanoma, renal cell cancer and mesothelioma. Some individuals with personal or family histories of BAP-1 related cancers may be genetic testing. Please consult the Cancer Care Ontario document outlining eligibility for genetic testing for hereditary cancer (https://www.cancercareontario.ca/en/guidelines-advice/types-of-cancer/70161) and/or contact the lab for additional information. Note: This is a blood test for individuals with clinical features and/or a family history of BAP-1 associated cancers. It is not a tumour test for somatic gene variants that provide information about diagnostics, prognostics or therapeutics.
