Acute Leukemia: RUNX1/RUNX1T1 (AML/ETO) t(8;21)
Clinical Decription:
A chromosomal translocation that results in the fusion of the RUNX1 and RUNX1T1 genes define a specific entity of acute leukemia. Quantitative reverse transcriptase PCR is performed to detect the RUNX1/RUNX1T1 genes fusion at diagnosis and also to monitor treatment response known as minimal residual disease monitoring.
