Acute Leukemia: CBFB/MYH11 INV(16) or t(16;16)

Clinical Decription:
A chromosomal translocation that results in the fusion of the CBFB and MYH11 genes define a specific entity of acute leukemia.  Quantitative reverse transcriptase PCR is performed to detect the CBFB/MYH11 genes fusion at diagnosis and also to monitor treatment response known as minimal residual disease monitoring.
