Polymorphous Low Grade Adenocarcinoma (PLGA) Salivary gland

Clinical Decription:
Polymorphous low-grade adenocarcinoma (PLGA) is the second most frequent type of malignant tumor of the minor salivary glands and carries an excellent prognosis. Unfortunately, it demonstrates cytological overlap with two other salivary gland tumors frequently encountered in teh same location. Mutations in the PRKD1 gene are demonstrated to be specific for PLGA and is present in the majority of cases. Tumor tissue testing is performed on PLGA tumors to facilitate diagnosis and therapeutic management.
