Creatinine clearance

Clinical Decription:
The creatinine clearance test is a relatively accurate and useful measure of the glomerular filtration rate. Creatinine occurring through metabolic production is eliminated from the plasma predominately by glomerular filtration, therefore a measurement of its rate of clearance affords a measure of this process. The creatinine clearance test is a calculation that utilizes the concentration of creatinine in the urine, concentration of creatinine in plsma, volume of the 24 hr urine and body surface area in square meters (requires height and weight of patient).
