Acute lymphocytic Leukemia: BCR/ABL1 t(9;22)

Clinical Decription:
A chromosomal translocation that results in the fusion of the BCR and ABL1 genes can occur in various hematologic malignancies including acute lymphocytic leukemia (ALLL). Patients with the BCR/ABL1 genes fusion are sensitive to treatment with tyrosine kinase inhibitors. Quantitative reverse transcriptase PCR is performed to detect the p210 and p190 BCR-ABL1 fusion variants at diagnosis and monitor treatment response known as minimal residual disease monitoring.
