Clinical Decription:
The measurement of chloride is used for the inferential value and is helpful in diagnosing disorders of acid-base and water balance. It is especially important to measure chloride during the correction of hypokalemic alkalosis and also during severe, prolonged vomiting, which can lower the serum chloride level.
