The measurement of cholesterol is used in the diagnosis and treatment of disorders involving excess cholesterol in the blood and in lipid and lipoprotein metabolism disorders.

Special Instructions: Serum or Plasma is acceptable with or without Gel seperator. Non Fasting Specimen sample is acceptable for Total Cholesterol and Non-HDL-C for initial assessment of patients with low to medium risk of CVD. Otherwise, patient must have been fasting for at least 8-12 hours prior to blood sample draw.
