The measurement of HDL and LCL cholesterol are used in the risk assessment of coronary artery disease.

Reference Ranges Used:
10-Year CVD risk:>=20% primary target LDL-C:<=2.0 mmol/L or >=50% decrease LDL-C; 10-19% primary target LDL-C:< =2.0 mmo/L or >=50% decrease LDL-C:<10% primary target LDL-C:>=50% decrease LDL-C

Collected In: Lithium heparin
Volume: 3 mL (minimum: 1 mL)
Shipping: room temperature or 4C
Special Instructions: Non Fasting Specimen sample is acceptable for Total Cholesterol and Non-HDL-C for initial assessment of patients with low to medium risk of CVD. Otherwise, patient must have been fasting for at least 8-12 hours prior to blood sample draw.
Testing Schedule(s): Monday through Friday.
