Clinical Decription:
Decrease in serum C3, C4 levels is seen in active systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), in forms of membrane proliferative glumerulonephritis and in immune complex diseases (serum sickness). Both C3 and C4 are acute phase reactants, and will be elevated in patients with inflammatory diseases.
