Clinical Decription:
Electrophoresis of a concentrated urine sample can distinguish between proteinuria due to renal disease and Bence Jones proteinuria that may be due to multiple myeloma or some other immunoproliferative disease.
Method: Electrophoresis; Architect/ Sebia Hydrasys
Component Tests Used: Total protein, Protein electrophoresis, Immunofixation electrophoresis.

Specimen Type: Urine
Volume: 50 mL (minimum: 10 mL)

Special Instructions: Discard first morning sample, collect all other urine for a 24 hour period, to include second morning sample. Record volume and aliquot.
Testing Schedule(s): Monday through Friday.
