Clinical Decription:
A marrow preparation includes morphology and iron stains on a marrow aspirate and histologic assessment on a marrow biopsy. Indications for a marrow aspirate include the morphologic cytologic assessment of the marrow elements. The biopsy should be performed to exclude infiltrative process such as lymphoma or metastatic tumour or to assess for infective precursors that involve the marrow.
