Clinical Decription:
Anti-mitochondral antibodies are a heterogeneous group of autoantibodies directed against various proteins that are located in the outer and inner membrane of mitochondria. The M2 subtype is directed to proteins of the -keto acid dehydrogenase complex. The presence of M2 is associated with primary biliary cirrhosis.
