Clinical Decription:
The measurement of sodium is used mainly in the diagnosis and treatment of gross changes in water and salt balance, aldosteronism, diabetes insipidus, adrenal hypertension, Addison?s disease, dehydration, inappropriate antidiuretic hormone secretion, diabetic acidosis, severe diarrhea, or other diseases involving electrolyte imbalance.

Special Instructions: If 24 h urine is required, discard first morning sample, collect all other urine for a 24 hour period, to include second morning sample. Record volume and aliquot.
