Clinical Decription:
Free PSA is the uncomplexed immunodetectable form of Prostatic Specific antigen, a serine protease with chymotrypsin-like activity. The major sit of PSA production is the glandular epithelium of the prostate. High levels of PSA in the blood are associated with prostatic pathology; including prostatitis, benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) and cancer of the prostate.
