Clinical Decription:
Salicylates are a group of compounds used as analgesics, antipyretics and anti-inflammatory agents. Most salicylate therapy is the result of self-medication. Because of its wide availability, salicylates are frequently seen in overdose cases. Proper management of salicylate poisoning, which can prevent fatalities, requires monitoring of the patient?s serum levels.
