		Clinical Decription:
 		
		Hepatitis B Surface Antigen (HBsAg) assays are used to identify and monitor persons infected with Hepatitis B virus (HBV). There are two Hepatitis B Surface Antigen tests available. The qualitative screening assay is used for identifying the presence of HBV infection. This assay provides qualitative result and first time positives are confirmed using a neutralization assay. The quantitative assay is for monitoring individuals known to be HBV positive.
